Lewis Carroll was a pen name. His real name is Charles Lutwidge Dogson. 

27 January 1832 – 14 January 1898

He is an English writer of world's famous children fiction novels:  Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and its sequel Through the Looking-Glass.

Sir John Tenniel was an English illustrator, graphic humorist, and political cartoonist prominent in the second half of the 19th century. He was knighted for his artistic achievements in 1893.

Tenniel drew 92 drawings for Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (London: Macmillan, 1865) and Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There (London: Macmillan, 1871).
